About the Author

Hi, I’m Dawn Torres-Gale! I’m an Accredited Financial Counselor® who has a private practice partnering with individuals and couples to create sustainable financial foundations so they can reach their life goals successfully.

In 2008, I was chosen by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Foundation to be part of a select group of military spouses to receive FINRA sponsored training from the Association of Financial Counseling, Planning and Education. I received my certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor® in February 2012. Since becoming an AFC®, I have worked as a Personal Financial Counselor with the Massachusetts National Guard, the Oregon National Guard, and the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve in Portland, Oregon. In 2018, I spent three months providing financial education and counseling services to soldiers stationed at the US Army Garrison Wiesbaden in Germany.

I have a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii, Manoa and a Bachelors degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University. Currently I am working on obtaining my Certified Financial Planner certification.

When I am not working, I enjoy being with my husband, three children, two grandchildren and one dog (a Jackabee!). I also love collecting and reselling secondhand furniture. A fun fact that not many people know is that the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony for my Master’s degree was George Takei of Star Trek.
