If you are looking for a healthy dessert, with a little butter and sugar, this apple cake recipe is for you. It’s our favorite apple cake and I like to add some blueberries to have a tangy taste mixed with the sweet taste of the cake. Besides, their blue color matches the red and white of the apples, just like the American flag!
Let’s Make Apple Cake!
Ingredients (Serves 8)
Prep Time: 20 minutes.
Cook Time: 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 365°F.
- Melt the butter
Add the butter to the milk and melt by microwave or in a pan on the stove. If you use the stove, be sure to use low heat.
- Prepare the cake
Prepare the cake in a food processor or a mixer. Mix the eggs and the sugar very well in a food processor for about 3-4 minutes until the mixture is pale yellow. Once it is a pale yellow, add the flour, lemon zest, milk, and butter. When everything is smooth add the baking powder and mix again!
- Slice the apples
Slice the apples and set them aside.
- Put it all together
Put some parchment paper in a baking pan that is about 20-22 cm in diameter. Pour the mixture in the baking pan and press the sliced apples to the bottom in a circular formation. If you are using blueberries, add them on top of the apples and push them in between the apples.
- Add some garnish
Sprinkle some cane sugar and butter flakes on top.
Bake in a preheated oven for about 45 minutes at 180°C / 365°F until the cake feels quite firm (check with a knife) and the top is golden brown.
