The pillars of life are built with friends and family...
Your 20s represent a time of transformation in so many ways. Socially, you have the opportunity to reinvent yourself as you meet new people at college or work, or while travelling or getting out and having fun. But making friends as an adult requires a little more effort than making friends as a kid. If you’re stumped about where to go, what to talk about, and how to set up a fun get together, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know about friendships and entertaining as a young adult.
At this point in your life, it’s common to also start thinking more about dating and long-term relationships. Nervous? Don’t be! We’ve got plenty of tips to help you navigate the modern world of dating with confidence. Maybe you’ll even meet “the one” and get married in your 20s, which in itself requires quite the guidebook!
As you explore what it means to be unapologetically you, you’ll grow in ways you never even imagined. Get out of your comfort zone and try new things — it’s the only way to discover the things that truly bring you joy. And when you do what you love, inevitably you’ll meet like-minded and passionate people who will become your friends.
Treasure all the new connections you make, but don’t forget to keep in touch with your old friends and family. They’re your bedrock. The teenage conflicts you had with your parents get put into perspective once you’re on your own in the world. Your 20s will bring about a new appreciation for everything your parents did for you — even when they made mistakes. It’s a good time to renew familial relationships if needed, or to return the 20-year favor and start spoiling your parents!
What about starting your own family? Your 20s are full of so many of life’s big questions! Don’t worry if you don’t have the answers. There’s plenty of time to figure it all out. In the meantime, explore A Guide for Your 20s to learn from the experiences and perspectives of people who have been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale!
