The Universe Will Take Care Of You...If You Trust It
Est. Reading Time: 4 Minutes
Can you remember your oldest memory? How old were you when it happened—2, 3, 4?
What about your life before this oldest memory?
Of course, even without remembering it, we “know” that we were a toddler. And before that, we were a baby. And before that, we were a fetus. Before that, an embryo.
But how is it possible that we showed up in this world normal and fine without any recollection or control of the events leading up to it?
What enabled us to develop eyes, ears, a brain, and everything else? What still enables our heart to beat, our lungs to breathe, and our mind to think?
The answer, of course, has always been in front of us: the Universe.
Whether we call it God, Source, the Universe, or our Highest Self, there has always been—and always will be—a guardian force “behind the scenes” influencing and supporting the life we lead. The universe will take care of you, if you let it.
Whatever we want or need, it will always provide it in some form or another. And when we’re feeling stuck or at a plateau, it throws a challenge our way to test our abilities and enable us to grow.
We instinctively learn to trust this force very early in life. Unfortunately, as we develop our intellect, we place far less trust in—and often even forget—this guardian force.
Following years of going to school and working, we often associate our intellect as being the center of all truth, wisdom, and reason.
So much attention gets put on nurturing the mind and cultivating insights, rather than nurturing the heart and letting insights flow naturally.
Our ego, or false self, occupies our mind and leads us into believing that we can be in control of everything—and more so, that we should strive to be in control of everything. However, this isn’t the best way to find happiness.
It tells us that we should be in control of how our life unfolds and that when it doesn’t go our way, we should be angry, upset, frustrated, and sad.
And when we get into this mindset of trying to control everything, we forget that things often happen whether we try to influence them or not.
Take when you sleep, for example. Do you really know what is happening when you are knocked out? Are you really in control of your body resting and recovering?
These sound like silly questions, but they illustrate a very important point: the Universe is always present and active in our lives, even if we don’t realize it. The universe will always take care of you because you’re always present.
In fact, the “pain” of not getting what we want—or getting what we don’t want—often stems from not realizing that the Universe is moving through life with us, and often tests us with challenges to help us heal, grow, and realize that we are not alone. That is if we can wake up and realize that we are not alone.
But sometimes that’s easier said than done.
For example, when we lose our job or go through a difficult breakup or divorce, we can’t help but sometimes feel helpless, alone, and dejected. Much of that has to do with the fact that we feel we failed, without taking into consideration what the Universe might have in store for us.
We feel that our thoughts, actions, and behaviors weren’t enough. And we feel this way because we are trying to go through life thinking that we’re on our own—when, in fact, we actually have the greatest partner with us each and every step of the way. The universe will be your greatest partner and will take care of you.
Indeed, the most fragile state of mind to be in is to believe that we are our intellect and nothing else.
We are actually something far greater, if we only stop to realize it.
And when we step away from thinking that our lives are just the product of our mind, we step into the true reality that our lives do NOT exist in a vacuum, but rather are all interconnected with the Universe at the center.
Behind every decision we make, we have the choice to listen to our mind (often our ego) or to our heart (the vehicle through which the Universe ‘speaks’).
In other words, we have the choice to go it alone, or to partner with this infinitely wise and protective force that has been supporting us all these years—even when we did not have the intellect to comprehend it.
The ego might dissuade you from trusting your heart, because then you will no longer need it. However, the truth has been right there in front of us—and always has been. We just have to learn to accept and trust in it.
Ultimately, there will be many more moments in your life where you will have very little, if any, control over the outcome of certain events.
But rather than resisting the Universe’s help, support, and messages, see if you can flow with it. See if you can move as One with it. Letting go of things you can’t control can be a beautiful thing.
Because it just so happens that the entire arc of life is, in reality, a journey of returning home and reuniting with the Universe. Let the universe take care of you, and don’t try to control it.
